The reuse of reinforced concrete elements requires rapid yet comprehensive characterization and condition assessment. The destructive testing methods currently available for this purpose are time-consuming and costly. For this reason, the development, validation, and analysis of customized in-situ and non-destructive testing methods, including application and automation strategies, is a key objective of subproject B02. This characterization is used to classify components into resistance classes, which should enable the service life to be determined according to specified reuse scenarios. The project is being carried out in close cooperation with Department 8.2 “Non-destructive testing methods for civil engineering” at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM).
